Entry #4. The Small Things in Life
What truly makes a human happy? What are you doing when you get small or big surges of happiness? Is it hanging out with you favorite person, getting your favorite meal, getting a good grade on an assignment? Happiness is one of the most important things while being alive. For me, the random surges of happiness come from music. There are so many different types of genres, artists, and styles of music that everybody can find at least one strong that resinates to them. Do you ever hear a song and it reminds you of a memory from the past?
Well whenever that happens to me it makes me want to go back and relive that moment. For the most part this happens to me when I'm driving alone or with my boyfriend. The memories that come to me when this happens is mainly from my freshman and sophomore year of high school. Sometimes when I get this feeling, all I can do is uncontrollably smile. I like to think that the strong memories you create will always stick with you through thick and thin. No matter what a person goes through, there is a small part inside them that keeps them pushing and surviving. I think that music can help people get through mental health along with depression. I wish everyone viewed music as healing and an opportunity to add a little more happiness to their day.
Hi Madison! I was really intrigued by this entry! I too think music is a wonderful escape from our everyday hectic lives, especially when it comes to school. I personally am a huge fan of Taylor Swift and could listen to her nonstop on any given day. It’s not only true that music brings happiness, but like you mentioned, it triggers specific memories. I myself have a few songs I hear once in awhile that take me back to a joyous time in my life. Great job with this post!

ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your post. Music always make me feel better.
ReplyDeleteHi Madison! I totally agree with you when you say how certain songs can bring up memories; both good and bad. Usually when I hear a song, like an oldie, I think of the days when I used to always be around my cousins. Our parents would always be listening to oldies and we'd be playing with cards and toys in the kitchen. Oldies always seem to make me feel happy since they're tied around those times. Music really does make a person feel a type of way.
ReplyDeleteHey Madison! I agree that music brings happiness to you. I love listening to music it really helps me be in the moment and reminisce the past. It takes me back to the days where I felt the happiest and forget about the problems around me. I feel like any genre of music can help you shut out any emotions you have. Music is my escape from the world.
ReplyDeleteHello Maddy! I 100% agree with you music is so power full! Just one familiar melody is like a time machine taking you back to a certain time. I also love music, it's a great way to motivate yourself to do something or to relax after a long day. Some of my favorite music has to have great lyrics so that I can sing along. Badly sing along I may add. But it helps add even a little fun when the day is stressful.

ReplyDeleteI love this so much and could not agree more a song that brings up a lot of memories for me would have to be Kissing Strangers by DNCE ft. Niki Minaj That was just such a good summer for me when it came out and I really felt at my best mentally.
I agree with you as well. I have a different playlist for all my moods. Whether I'm happy or sad I have music for it. Music brings everyone together and can turn anyone from sad to happy within a minute. Music is amazing!
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree. Music can change anything. It can go to in your "feels" to a whole on dance show, even to a screaming. Music brings people together, it helps people to relate, feel, experience, even remember important events in life. Sometimes when I drop my boyfriend off or get done with a closing shift, I'll drive. Driving with the windows down, music loud, and singing every word. It's how some people communicate or feel something. Also, how friends have fun. Screaming the lyrics like a boy just hurt them or simply because they know all the words. It's a lovely art.
