Entry #5. Mayhem Everywhere
Allstate Mayhem commercials are still everyones favorite to watch when relaxing on a Sunday afternoon watching the game. One ad that caught my eye was aimed towards drivers, specifically drivers who use GPS. Now in this ad it wasn't a plain GPS, it was the actor playing as the navigation system. This commercial is showing the fact that almost everyone who has the ability to use GPS will do so. Relying on technology to take you to and from places can not always be the correct directions. During the end of the ad, it continued to say, "... and be protected like me," this gives the incentive that you want to be protected and have that safety.
By watching this ad, you can deduce that the American culture relies on technology, especially when it comes to directions. From the whole 18 years of me being alive, I have never once saw somebody pull out a map to get directions. The audience that this ad was aimed for should react to it by realizing that technology is not always the safest thing when driving. This makes the audience want to get protected by getting Allstate because drivers who rely on their GPS don't want to get into an accident with no coverage.
I liked your blog. It was short, but I feel that it got to the point. I like how your analysis led you to believe that our culture today relies so much on technology. When you said that in your whole life you ever once saw anyone use a map for direction, I started to think the last time I saw my parents, or anybody, use a map. Really good job.

ReplyDeleteI have driven with people who pulled out a map to read it while driving. Now can can use a number of devices to listen to directions. I like your blog.

ReplyDeleteYou really got right to the point here and made it super easy to read but I get it yeah we really do depend on technology and I do not think it is all that bad but accidents do happen that can be avoidable.
Hi Madison I really liked your blog entry and in a way you make it relate to others like me because like you said no one uses paper maps these days and if I saw someone who did I would probably chuckle to myself haha. But anyways I believe you did a really good job with your blog.

ReplyDeleteI totally agree that we unfortunately rely on technology. It's sad to see sometimes. It messed me up one time when I relied on GPS to get to work and I ended up popping a tire because of the road it took me on and being late to work.
