Entry #6: Social Media?
Where do I begin when talking about social media? Well I can start off by safely saying, almost every American is somewhat addicted to their phones. There is no harm or judgement in that, it has became more normalized than it has every been.
Some say our phones our the gateway to being social and I agree with that. Social media like Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, etc. allows anybody across the world to see your photos and videos. This can be a huge advantage to businesses along with models and influencers. There are "creators" on social media who make a living off of posting videos or having ads on you page. Not only is there one involved but there can be friendships made fro social media. Nowadays there are apps that are meant for you to meet people and even date.
Now don't get me wrong, there are huge disadvantages to social media as a whole. Some kids seriously can't live without their phone for ten minutes. This causes problems when interacting with people in the real world. When kids or even adults are so wrapped in social media, they tend to look up to others. Looking up to others can become so important to young teens that they want to become that person. There have been cases that people change their whole identity and look to appear as a celebrity.
I would say that there are more advantages than disadvantages when it comes to social media. Back then when they didn't have cell phones or TV, there was no way to get information unless it took multiple days. New can now be broadcasted across the world in seconds!
Hi Maddy,
ReplyDeleteYes most likely almost every american today in society is addicted to their phones. Some of the older people are not. Especially younger ages who can't be off their device for a couple of minutes is insane. I agree when you said that and electronics, the internet, social media in general is a big role in avoiding the real world. Interacting with people is a daily activity for everyone whether it's school, work, college, buying something from the market. I would say so myself I loved playing outside when I was younger, however some parents are strict about electronic devices. This topic needs to be discussed more throughout the world today.
I agree with every every you said in your entry. Yes older people are not so attached to their phones because when they were younger that is not what they for entertainment when they were young. It does have a big impact in this world epecially the young teenagers and childern.
ReplyDeleteYeah social media does have a lot of advantages. I also agree that I've seen way too many kids addicted to their phones, and social media. For me, I'm on it sometimes. I don't really use my phone too much. Great blog!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, social media can be addicting. It is great though to have information at my fingertips. With out of state family its nice to see videos of my nieces and nephews almost daily! Having a 6 year old, I know first hand how they can look up to people on the internet (specifically youtubers). Great blog
ReplyDeleteHey, Maddy. Your new entries are looking pretty good. You present some interesting topics and ideas, and you have some good content development, as you are working to create significance for your audience to connect and relate to. Keep working on expanding some; don't be too brief. As you write your entries, don't forget about rhetoric, the lead in, and the sign off. Good visual appeal. Keep editing carefully.
